We went to a play last week – Smokey Joe’s Café. We really enjoyed it. If you’re a lover of oldies music, it should be high on your wanna go list.
It is a review featuring 42 oldies songs woven very loosely into a story. And I’ve got to tell you, it was wonderful.
I still have a couple of songs floating around in my head
– at this moment – T.W. Washburn.
HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS???
How 'bout them Eagles??
Superbowl!!!!!
I work all day in front of a computer, and still, when I get home, I like to turn on my pc and check on my favorite bloggers. It helps me to unwind, relax and enjoy my evening.
The biggest problem with this method of relaxation is that sometimes I sit here longer than I planned. Computers are such time robbers!
Thanks Guys
Most overpaid – sports figures and CEOs. Where’s the justice in that??
Now that I have this great new scanner, I need more space for all my pc stuff. So, we’ve been shopping for a new computer desk.
We only have 48 inches of space where the desk will go in our living room, so it’s a challenge. We did find a nice one with a hutch (lots of storage space) and I think we’re going to order it next week.
It looks great and seems to be functional. Sometimes they can fool you with that "functional" word.
When someone tells you you have a run in your panty hose, and you already know it, you should say, “I DO? (with great concern in your voice)” and immediately look down and inspect the wrong leg (the one without the run).
Fools them every time.
Here it is - a kind of grey Sunday morning, and Don is off playing tennis. So, true to form, I found myself in the kitchen.
I think this recipe is really good, and I don't usually like radishes. After the salad marinates a while, the radishes become kind of white, and the liquid becomes kind of pink. Very pretty.
Pickled Radishes![]()
2 cups (8 oz) sliced radishes (about one of those small bags)
1 small onion, cut into thin wedges and separated
1/2 cup white vinegar (I use apple cider vinegar)
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
cut radishes with slicing blade or food processor. Combine with onion. In separate bowl mix vinegar, sugar and salt until sugar is dissolved. Pour over radish mixture. cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours before serving.

I was just by Buzz's place and saw his list for the problems they had (or didn't have) because of Miss Isabelle.
Our list is the same as his, and, as I told him, Our cat, Gracie, had to run for cover once - when a big wind came into the window she was occupying.
We were lucky. I don't know if Gracie feels the same.

And I Quote:
According to the Great Lakes Brewing News, beer is good for your health.
Researchers in the Netherlands report that middle-aged men who drink three or four glasses of beer with dinner each day have lowered the risk of inflammation of arteries, which can lead to heart disease.
Meanwhile, German scientists claim that beer containing higher levels of xanthohumol, a potent antioxidant, can help fight against cancer.
Anyone want to claim to be a middle-aged man? ![]()
I ran across this picture of Tex Ritter (John's dad), and thought father and son look a lot alike. Tex was my favorite cowboy. And John has been very funny and entertaining for a long time.

I understand there's another of the Ritter men who would like to be an actor.
Comments anyone?
I moved away from the Philadelphia area at 18, came back a few years ago, and married into a family of serious Eagle fans. I have tried hard to be an Eagles fan for them. Those Eagles surely do make it difficult, but I’m still trying.
Go Eagles!!
Yea team
We’ve been doing some rather serious car shopping for the past couple of weeks, and I think today we may have made a decision about which car to buy.
There are so many types, sizes, styles, extras and prices out there, that it’s hard to decide. And so many different types of sales pitches.
We spoke to “Roman”, the car salesman today, and he gave us the best set of facts we’ve heard yet. We might just jump in and buy a car from him.
Tune in later for the results of our rainy Saturday
Kid: What do you get when you sing a Cowboy song backwards”
Other Guy: I don’t know, what?
Kid: You get your house back, you get your wife back, you get your job back, you get your truck back.
The Eagles and their new stadium reminds me of an old acquaintance of mine.
This woman (who shall forever remain nameless) bought a grand piano.
Just because you own a grand piano doesn't mean you can play it.
Better luck next time Eagles.
What a great toy. The only thing wrong with getting this scanner is that I’ve created a project for myself that will probably last my whole life long.
Our family is actually 2 families joined by marriage. And because of that, I have my family pictures, my husband’s family pictures, and our combined family pictures. I want to make e-copies of all the pictures for all the families and give them to any interested parties. We have a LOT of pictures.
I also have “Aunt Mona’s” recipe box, which I would like to share with all who would be interested. I’m scanning all these old recipes, and it’s going to take me a long time. Not easy scanning. But I have this compulsion to share our heritage with all the people who would be interested.
Am I crazy? When will I have time to Blog? Wish me luck.
Sometimes there are little ***’s by names of people in my Links spot on the right hand side of the screen.
Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I just don’t know what they mean. They aren’t always the same, and it’s starting to bug me.
Anyone willing to educate me on this one? (sorry, I’m still kind of new, well not THAT new, but I still don't know the answer to this one. )
In a League of Their Own, Geena Davis, the star catcher, was telling her manager, Tom Hanks, that she was quitting Baseball because it was too hard.
“It’s supposed to be hard,” Hanks said, “If it wasn’t hard everyone would do it. The hard is what makes it great.”

Our swim club had a corn roast last weekend, and instead of running out of corn – which happens some years, they had extra. They requested that as we left could we please take some of the corn, which we did.
I brought it home and cut what we didn’t eat right away - off the cobs (it was sooo good, and sooo sweet), and tonight, I made corn chowder with the left overs:
Corn Chowder
2 cans chicken stock
3 stalks celery
1/3 cup minced onion
1/3 cup minced green pepper
6 ears corn or 2 cans
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup flour
To chicken stock, add celery, onion, green pepper, corn, garlic powder, salt & pepper. Cook over medium heat 15 minutes.
Add skim milk and flour, whisked together, and heat till thick.
We went to breakfast and then to the Mercer Museum with Donald (age 8) and Steven (age 6) last weekend.
While we were traveling, we introduced the boys to the Mules of Eastern Pennsylvania. There are about 180 fiberglass mules, which have been painted and decorated by various businesses and groups in the area.
We managed to see 13 that day, and it got me to thinking. I went on the internet and found a website, Miles of Mules, and got a series of 3 maps which show the locations of the mules.
I think we’re going on a couple of day trips and try to find a lot more. Sounds like a nice Saturday afternoon ride to me.
