I always park my car in the same spot at work. Have done so for years. People know where I am, and when I got a new car recently, several people noticed that I had a new car because it was in my parking spot.
This morning when I got to work, there were only 2 cars in the whole parking lot – one of them in my spot!!! I was at a loss. Where to park??. I started to park on one side of this big ole SUV, and decided no, if they weren’t careful, they would hurt my car when the driver door was opened.
I backed out and parked on the other side of this monster SUV. I was so unnerved that I couldn’t remember if I had locked the car when I got into the building, and had to turn around, go back, and check. Of course I had.
Talk about being set in my ways. I’ve been laughing about it all day.
Did I ever post this unbelievably good appetizer Recipe? Practically everyone loves it!!!
Italian Sausage Applesauce Appetizer
1 pound Italian sausage
1/4 cup and 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chunky applesauce
1/2 onion, chopped
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
In a large skillet, fry sausage until it is browned.
Drain well. Cut the sausage into bite-size pieces.
In a small casserole dish, combine sausage, brown sugar, applesauce, and onion.
Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 45 minutes.
Serve with toothpicks for easy nibbling.
I double the recipe and never have any left!!
My new computer desk finally arrived on Friday. We ordered it a couple of months ago, and I've been waiting kind of patiently.
I love it. After Don finished putting all my pc stuff into the desk – no wires show!
I have a flat panel monitor, so the desk top is actually empty looking, even with my new scanner on the desktop. There’s a little front door (looks like a desk drawer) that opens, and the mouse and keyboard are in there. And if you pull it all the way open, there’s space for pencils and such behind the keyboard.
Lucky me. It just doesn't take a lot to make me happy. I’m just so excited about my new desk.
I tried to take a picture of it tonight, but it's so dark, I didn't have very good luck (I'll try again on a brighter day).
On the other hand, early darkness does not make me happy. And wait till I start talking about the cold!!!
I got up early this morning and made a pot of coffee. While I was waiting, I turned on my pc and decided to look at my blog stuff.
I was so surprised to see how many new posts there were from some of my favorite blog folk.
I just wonder if I do this long enough, will I lose my need for sleep.
I work for a large company and our building is on a beautiful large campus complete with deer, foxes, large snapping turtles, and last year, even an eagle.
Yesterday I was driving off the campus right in front of my boss. There was a rain-soaked young red fox eating pretzels from a bag that someone must have dropped. It was right in the middle of the road. Poor little thing must have been very hungry. It seemed to have very little road sense, as it waited till a car was practically upon it to abandon the pretzels, and then went right back to it.
As I drove onto the road, I saw my boss back up her enormous Cadillac Escalade and turn around. She told me this morning and told me that she had gone back, gotten out of her car, and threw the pretzels, bag and all over to the side of the road. Little fox just sat there and watched her.
My guess is that she saved the life of that little critter.

I've been really busy this week. I've been canning applesauce after work. It's kind of hard to be corporate and farmer's wife at the same time.
The applesauce is just so good that I can't resist canning in the autumn when the apples are so fresh.
Wish I could share some with you.

Iwas listening to the radio on Sunday morning and the host was interviewing Mitch Albom, author of Tuesday at Morrie’s (which I have meant to read and never gotten to it).
He has a new book, Five People you meet in Heaven, which I think has already made the top seller’s list. I was intrigued and logged onto Amazon. I read the first page from the excerpt and am now even more intrigued. Think I’ll read it.

Has anyone read it - if so, how about a comment?

We went to Hawk Mtn. yesterday as planned. It was really great – a little cool, but we were dressed for the day.
We were lucky enough to get there just as a guided tour of the mountain began. It was so nice. Not only did we see everything, but got a running commentary about most everything – trees, moss, birds, deer, the works. When we got to the North lookout, we saw about a dozen birds, harriers, cooper's hawk, red tail hawks, turkey buzzards, and a few I can’t remember.
If you live nearby, I recommend the trip. And if available to you, take a couple of kids along. They'll love it. And if you go, be prepared to walk some rough (rocky) trails.
On the way home, Don saw a large flock of hawks flying, and followed them down a country road. We saw several dozen birds circling round and round. It was awesome.
All in all it was a really nice day, like a mini vacation, which seems to be necessary when you work full time.
Just a breathtaking place.
Does anyone else have as much trouble as I do deciding on the title of a post?
Somehow, it seems very important – to me if not to anyone else.
Well, I guess if that's my toughest problem of the day, I must be doing OK.
Have a great weekend.
We just bought a dust mop that is guaranteed for 10 years!
Of course, to collect on that guarantee, I suppose the store where the mop was purchased will still have to be in business, and we’ll have to be able to locate the information in our vast file of other such guarantees.
Oh, and the company that supplied the dustmop to the store will still have to be in business as well.
The mop cost $9.95. So wadda you think - is it worth saving the paperwork??
Don called me into the back yard yesterday afternoon to see the hawks. There were about a dozen circling above our neighborhood. What a beautiful sight!
I decided that we should go on our first annual trip to hawk mountain to see for ourselves. (we went there once before, but not during the migration season).
A quote from their website - “Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers visitors an outstanding experience in nature observation with its mountaintop vistas and thrilling migration of nearly 20,000 hawks, eagles and falcons”
So I think next Saturday morning, I’ll dust off my comfortable hiking shoes, pack a lunch, and go.

Let me be one of the first to wish you a
"Happy Christopher Columbus Day"

I was watching a show about Cindy Crawford’s life on tv, and she said something that I loved:“I ‘ve always said you can get a lot further with a smile”. What a great attitude I thought.

So, I looked up the phrase on the internet, and I think it came from this quote, “You can go a lot further with a smile and a gun. Al Capone: ...”
Still a great way to live – Cindy’s quote, not Al’s

What a fantastic idea. The only thing is, I couldn’t stop. I’d go to visit a suggested blog, and looked at their suggestions – and so on. Thanks, Buzz. You really come up with some good ones.
Oh, and this is my 101st blog message. Who knew?
I have really enjoyed the "World of Blog". Of course, my favorites are Empress and Buzz. If I don't say that, I may be drummed out of the family (just kidding, I really enjoy checking up on my family members every day. I feel like I know them even better now.)
Buzz suggested that I have a look at Fishtales, and he is terrific. Every day something interesting.
I have to tell you, there are several more bloggers I'd like to mention, but our company has just arrived. To be continued at a later date.
I’ve been looking around at some new blogs – recommended to my by unknowing bloggers that I check regularly.
Seems like there are just so many blog folks out there with great stories and interesting things to say. I enjoy looking in on them from time to time.
I have also found several photo blogs. What a lot of talent out there. Some of the pictures are unbelievable. Great fun!
Thanks Buzz, for introducing me to all this.
And if you did take the children out to buy a pumpkin or two, this recipe might interest you - assuming you aren't exhausted and like to cook. Possibly, if you're very adventuresome, the children could even help.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
1 1/2 cups pumpkin seeds (or however much you have)
2 teaspoons melted butter or olive oil
salt to taste
(Optional seasonings) garlic powder or cayenne pepper or seasoning salt or Cajun seasoning blend
Preheat oven to 300° F. While it's O.K. to leave some strings and pulp on your seeds (it adds flavor), clean off any major chunks. Toss pumpkin seeds in a bowl with the melted butter or oil and seasonings of your choice. Spread pumpkin seeds in a single layer on baking sheet. Bake for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown

David and Pumpkins
David and I wish you a happy Autumn.
And even more - a happy Indian Summer
Five little Pumpkins sitting on a gate
The First one said "It's getting late!"
The Second one said "Are there witches in the air?"
The Third one said "Well, I don't care!"
The Forth one said "Will we run and run?"
The Fifth one said "We're ready for some fun!"
Whooo Whooo went the wind
And out went the light
and the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!
My boss at work would like to go and see George Bush Sr. speak. She asked me to see if I could find a schedule of his speaking engagements.
I consider myself a pretty fair searcher, but I had no luck. Anyone know where I can find a list of his appearances?
It would make me look great if I can supply her with a list.
