Every year, Don leaves a fairly large unmowed oval around the hooks, and we wait to see what will happen. We usually have the most beautiful sunflower garden planted for us by our feathered friends.

Talk about being set in one’s ways, I should win a prize.
I arrive early to work, and always park in the same spot. Today I came to work, and there was only 1 car parked in the lot, and it was in my spot!
I was in such a quandary I didn't know what to do!
And I wanted to thank my blog friends and aquaintances who stopped by and wished me a happy birthday yesterday.
And it was - happy I mean.
And I'm already celebrating. Actually my birthday is Tuesday, July 26th.
All good wishes most happily received!

When you go to buy a loaf of bread, have you ever wondered which is the freshest loaf, so you "squeeze" for freshness or softness?
Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Each day has a different color twist tie. They are: Monday = Blue, Tuesday = Green, Thursday = Red, Friday = White and Saturday = Yellow.
So if today was Thursday, you would want red twist tie; not white which is Fridays (almost a week old)!
The colors go alphabetically by color Blue- Green - Red - White - Yellow, Monday through Saturday.
A recipe I’m dying to try.
I just found the best-sounding recipe in an old cookbook that I’ve seen in a long time.
This recipe should certainly appeal to those who don't care much for the atmosphere in the kitchen.
1 pound Hamburger meat (frozen)
2 raw eggs
1 cup bread crumbs
Salt and pepper to taste.
Remove 1 pound frozen hamburger from freezer. While you’re waiting for this to thaw, crack 2 raw eggs into a medium size bowl. Add bread crumbs. Mix hamburger in well.
Feed to dog and go out to eat at your favorite restaurant.
I have other variations of this recipe
substituting tuna fish and cat.
Don and I started out on an evening walk in this terrible heat and humidity.
When I got outside, I said to him that the air quality wasn’t good. And then I realized that when we were kids, we didn’t even know air had quality. It was just air.
It was an awful walk, I might add, but now it’s over and we’re back in the air conditioned house recuperating.

I don’t know what the weather's like where you live, but it sure is very warm and humid here in Bucks County PA.
And that’s the nicest way I can say it.
Our neighbor went into a nursing home a couple of years back, and I really miss him - especially when I'm gardening.
He could be depended on to always let me know that what I was doing was wrong - even when it wasn't.
Now, how do I know?
I really miss you Ed
Someone – who did not leave his/her name, came by my blogsite recently, and made a comment about my current post.

I’d like that person to know that they are under absolutely no obligation to read anything at my blogsite.
And I’d also like to do a little spelling correction – the word is stupid, not stu]id.
We hosted our (about twice) annual dinner for 10 this weekend. We served picnic fare, grilled chicken and all the fixings. And… I found a recipe for desert called “The Next best thing to Robert Redford. With a name like that, how could I not make it?

The recipe is in the extended entry of this post.
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2/3 cup butter
• 1 cup chopped walnuts
• 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
• 1 cup white sugar (I used ¾ cup)
• 2 (8 ounce) containers frozen whipped topping, thawed
• 1 (5.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
• 1 (5.1 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
• 3 cups milk
• 1/8 cup grated semisweet chocolate (optional)
Combine flour, butter, and chopped nuts. Press into the bottom of a 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Combine cream cheese, sugar, and 1 container of whipped topping until well mixed. Spread evenly over the cooled crust.
Mix pudding mixes and milk well until thick. Spread evenly over the cream cheese filling.
Spread remaining container of whipped topping over the pudding layer (I topped with Whipped cream at serving time instead).
Sprinkle grated chocolate over the top. (optional)
Refrigerate for 6 to 8 hours before serving.
Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30 I hope we don’t see too many of those names in print this year.

Seems to me like we've seen too many already. And it's only July!
Stay Safe
A while ago I posted a story about the Dove family that took up residence in my friend's basket of petunias hanging on their balcony.
In another post, I updated the story with a picture of the "kids" (Petunia and Willoughby) with their Mom.
And for those of you who would like to see the "rest of the story", I have two more pictures.
I wonder if Willow and Morey will use the same nest again this summer.
There's a picture of the kids shortly before they ran away
from home in the extended entry.
Don't you think they're adorable?

Maybe this will make you feel better about your gas mileage
This cruise liner, moves only six inches for each
gallon of diesel that it burns.

And you thought you had poor gas mileage!
My car does better than that
We're going to a 4th of July picnic this weekend. I said I'd bring something from my new crockpot healthy foods cookbook.
I've chosen Hot Crab Dip Appetizer, and Sausage and Peppers.

1/3 cup salsa
3 packages cream cheese (regular, lite or fat free)
1 pound imitation crab meat, flaked

Sausage and Peppers
3 onions, sliced (I’m going to use Vidalia onions)
1 each: sweet red, green, and yellow peppers, sliced

28 ounce can chopped tomatoes (I’m using frozen from last year’s garden tomatoes)
½ teaspoon crushed red pepper.

2. Add tomatoes and red pepper. Mix

Happy July. It promises to be a hot, humid summer here in my neighborhood.
I think a little extra celebrating is in order.
Of course, there's always the 4th of July, but here's a calendar to help you find another day or two to celebrate.
If you see one that especially appeals to you, then happy.......whatever.
And don't forget July 26! That one is my favorite day to celebrate.
In the meantime, Happy Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day!
