I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween. ![]()

A scarecrow is a device (traditionally a mannequin) that is used to discourage birds like crows from disturbing crops.
Not only do crows feed on recently cast seed, they also gather nightly, starting with groups of a half dozen which then unite to form a group of 20 to 30 and so on until the flock is quite large and noisy. It is their habit to return to the same place each night. Thus, it is in the interest of farmers, gardeners, and homeowners to move them along (to make them someone else's problem).
We didn’t see too many Amish buggies because the weather was so bad, but had a great time nevertheless.
We had lunch with 2 bloggers (also family members), The Pegasus and The Honesty Room – and of course their two kitties, Minet and Luna.
We had such a great time visiting with them in their new home.
And the lunch was great! Thanks
Brenda at What’s Up Down South posted a complaint regarding news Broadcasts.
Our local paper had a small article regarding a "not so serious situation"

"It wasn't a huge forensic undertaking", the director of public safety, said Wednesday. "We just put it under a light."

I'll be telecommuting this morning, and then off to the newly opened Ming’s Restaurant.
Ming has opened a second restaurant not too far from here, and we’re going to give it a try and wish him the best of luck.

Update - We had a wonderful afternoon - went to the Michener Museum, and Don dragged me to a ski shop where I bought a really great jacket.
Lunch was absolutely wonderful. Ming gave us all kinds of special attention, and we wished him well for his new venture.
Alas - no picture of the new restaurant. It was raining very hard. We'll just have to go back on a nicer day.
All in all it was a nice half vacation day.
When pigs fly is an informal way to joke that you will never do something.
Example: "Do you think you will ever work at that company again?"
Reply: "When pigs fly!"

Pigs are heavy animals that stay close to the ground and do not fly, so when pigs fly is a time that will never come.
Another example: "Do you think your brother will be successful?"
Reply: "When pigs fly he will."
When pigs fly is a time that will never come because pigs will never fly.
Yet another example: "Will you ever take her on a date?"
Reply: "Sure: When pigs fly!"

What a beautiful, sunshiny day!
It's such a treat after nearly a week of rain.
Don's off playing outdoor tennis, I'm making applesauce and Smokey Joe is just enjoying the sunshine!
I hope it's nice where you are.![]()
It's been raining for days here in Bucks County Pennsylvania. ![]()
And I've made a decision... When I grow up I'm going to remember to take an umbrella when it rains.

Update - 11:00 am It's raining again.
Another update - 3:00pm It's still raining.
We're having company for dinner this weekend, and I've decided to make this dip - it's one of our favorites.
Mix cream cheese, sour cream and salad dressing mix with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Stir in broccoli and 1½ cups of the Cheddar cheese.
Spoon into lightly buttered pie plate or ovenproof crock.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
Sprinkle with remaining Cheddar cheese. Bake for about 5 minutes more or until Cheddar cheese is melted. Server with crackers.

Remember when telephones all sounded alike?

I live in the Philadelphia area, and today the Philadelphia Eagles played the Dallas Cowboys.
I happen to be a Dallas fan.
And Dallas won! YES!
How 'bout them Cowboys!
I don’t know how to fix this situation. ![]()

Each year I look forward to the beautiful colors of Autumn - especially the changing of the leaves

Every autumn we revel in the beauty of the fall colors. The mixture of red, purple, orange and yellow is the result of chemical processes that take place in the tree as the seasons change from summer to winter.
As we take our annual drive down country roads, there are lots of ooohs and aaahs. Some of the scenes are breathtaking. Postcard perfect.
We'll be heading for Lancaster County in about two weeks for our annual
"Autumn Appreciation trip".
