The Hawks are Migrating
Don called me into the back yard yesterday afternoon to see the hawks. There were about a dozen circling above our neighborhood. What a beautiful sight!
I decided that we should go on our first annual trip to hawk mountain to see for ourselves. (we went there once before, but not during the migration season).
A quote from their website - “Hawk Mountain Sanctuary offers visitors an outstanding experience in nature observation with its mountaintop vistas and thrilling migration of nearly 20,000 hawks, eagles and falcons”
So I think next Saturday morning, I’ll dust off my comfortable hiking shoes, pack a lunch, and go.

Note Exactly the Right Quote
I was watching a show about Cindy Crawford’s life on tv, and she said something that I loved:“I ‘ve always said you can get a lot further with a smile”. What a great attitude I thought.
So, I looked up the phrase on the internet, and I think it came from this quote, “You can go a lot further with a smile and a gun. Al Capone: ...”
Still a great way to live – Cindy’s quote, not Al’s

Blog it Forward
What a fantastic idea. The only thing is, I couldn’t stop. I’d go to visit a suggested blog, and looked at their suggestions – and so on. Thanks, Buzz. You really come up with some good ones.
Oh, and this is my 101st blog message. Who knew?

Blog it Forward Day
I have really enjoyed the “World of Blog”. Of course, my favorites are Empress and Buzz. If I don’t say that, I may be drummed out of the family (just kidding, I really enjoy checking up on my family members every day. I feel like I know them even better now.)
Buzz suggested that I have a look at Fishtales, and he is terrific. Every day something interesting.
I have to tell you, there are several more bloggers I’d like to mention, but our company has just arrived. To be continued at a later date.

Blog Shopping
I’ve been looking around at some new blogs – recommended to my by unknowing bloggers that I check regularly.
Seems like there are just so many blog folks out there with great stories and interesting things to say. I enjoy looking in on them from time to time.
I have also found several photo blogs. What a lot of talent out there. Some of the pictures are unbelievable. Great fun!
Thanks Buzz, for introducing me to all this.

Autumn Treat
And if you did take the children out to buy a pumpkin or two, this recipe might interest you - assuming you aren’t exhausted and like to cook. Possibly, if you’re very adventuresome, the children could even help.
Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
1 1/2 cups pumpkin seeds (or however much you have)
2 teaspoons melted butter or olive oil
salt to taste
(Optional seasonings) garlic powder or cayenne pepper or seasoning salt or Cajun seasoning blend
Preheat oven to 300° F. While it’s O.K. to leave some strings and pulp on your seeds (it adds flavor), clean off any major chunks. Toss pumpkin seeds in a bowl with the melted butter or oil and seasonings of your choice. Spread pumpkin seeds in a single layer on baking sheet. Bake for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown

Happy Autumn Everyone
David and Pumpkins
David and I wish you a happy Autumn.
And even more - a happy Indian Summer
Five little Pumpkins sitting on a gate
The First one said “It’s getting late!”
The Second one said “Are there witches in the air?”
The Third one said “Well, I don’t care!”
The Forth one said “Will we run and run?”
The Fifth one said “We’re ready for some fun!”
Whooo Whooo went the wind
And out went the light
and the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!

I could use a little help
My boss at work would like to go and see George Bush Sr. speak. She asked me to see if I could find a schedule of his speaking engagements.
I consider myself a pretty fair searcher, but I had no luck. Anyone know where I can find a list of his appearances?
It would make me look great if I can supply her with a list.
