Is it Spring yet?
When I looked out of our kitchen window this afternoon, there was a robin taking a very exuberant bath in our bird bath, and a dove sitting on the side waiting his turn.
Spring really is coming!!

Trackback
Can someone please explain trackback to me. I hate to admit it, but I just don’t know.
Probably doesn’t matter, because I haven’t ever noticed it happening on my site.

Favorite Red Wine – for health
Nef suggested that I ask anyone who stops by, and who might occasionally have a glass or two of the red stuff to leave the name of their favorite (not horribly expensive) Red Wine. So if you have a favorite (or two), I’d love to hear about it.
If you glance at the post below, you will understand that this a request in the name of good health. Lets keep those colds away.
Don and I have a favorite – Bogle Petite Sirah.
And Nef named a favorite - Cap Rock Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Texas High Plains , but he may want to list another or a different wine.
Who knows, maybe we’ll get a good shopping list out of this.

Red Wine - Cheers, Y’all
We had a glass of red wine with our dinner last night, so I thought I’d do a little research.
Seems that red wine has a protective effect on health for the common cold.
In a study of 4,000 (very happy) volunteers, it was discovered that people who drank two glasses a day had almost 50% less colds than non-wine drinkers.
One glass a day appears to protect against colds, but two is better. The antioxidant effects of the wine may be a contributing factor.
I say, that’s a good reason to enjoy a glass or two with dinner.

Onion Soup Mix
I made a meat loaf last night. I love meatloaf, especially my own recipe, and I make it so rarely as to be ridiculous.
My recipe calls for a package of Lipton Onion Soup mix and I didn’t have any. So I went to the largest cookbook in the world, and found a substitute for onion soup mix.
To make your own package of soup mix:
1/4 cup instant minced onion + 2 tablespoons beef bouillon + 1/2 teaspoon onion powder and about a teaspoon of Beau Monde seasoning (if you happen to have any) Mix together.

The meatloaf was delicious, and I managed to make it without having to make that extra trip to the super market.

Spring is just around the corner
Look at what I found in my front garden yesterday morning!! Aside from the robins, who never seemed to leave this winter, a
little yellow crocus is a sure sign of spring.
And the temperature was 60 degrees on my way home from work this afternoon. I carried my coat!!
