Happy New Year

..............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR........HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR............HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.............

I make a new year’s resolution every other year (odd numbered years since 1999)

My resolution is to try at least one new recipe a week (or 52 a year). It’s something I like to do, and my personal cookbook has grown...and grown.

And when I find an especially good recipe,
I like to share it with my blogger friends.

I got my car back!

We picked my car up last evening from the repair shop.  I had a run in with a deer on the way to work about a month ago.

It looks great.  The damage was over $6,000, but lucky for us - we had $100 deductible on our insurance policy.

Back to the East Coast

Thanks for all the Holiday wishes.

We just got back from Sunny California (Pasadena) after spending 8 days with Don’s family.

We did so much touristy stuff while we were there, that I’ll try not to bore you with too many details.

More tomorrow.

It’s been 8 days since I sat down to a computer.
I think that’s an all-time record.

Oatmeal - not just for health

I was eating a bowl of instant oatmeal (a local store brand) in front of my PC at work – healthy food, you know.  I noticed that they have “Wacky Trivia” on their packages.

Here was what I learned today.
When was the first comic book produced?

Famous Funnies.jpg

• Although the first issue of Famous Funnies was dated July 1934, it was actually released in May of that year. From the very beginning, comic publishers have routinely cover-dated their books two to three months later than the actual shipping date to give the books a longer shelf life.

• Famous Funnies reached its 100th issue in November 1942, the first comic to achieve that milestone.

• “Buck Rogers” first appeared in the third issue and would run in every issue until #190, and then sporadically until the final issue. Legendary artist Frank Frazetta drew several classic “Buck Rogers” covers near the end of the title’s run.

I can hardly wait to see what I learn tomorrow!

Homely Ornament

We’re in the process of decorating our tree. We have too many ornaments, but we do our best to get at least the most important ornaments displayed every year.

I have one from my past that’s just about as homely as it can be, but I loved the family that gave it to me (and probably will never run across them again – they don’t live anywhere near here). So up it goes every year.

I’d post a picture of it, but, you never know who’s reading your blog. So I’ll pass on displaying the “real thing”.

Does anyone else put bad looking things on their tree because of the sentiment attached?

My Least favorite clothing

Now that winter’s rapidly approaching us here in SE Pennsylvania, I have the annual problem of how to keep my hands warm.

Gloves are probably my least favorite article of clothing ever.  I guess there are worse (corsets, girdles and the like), but I don’t indulge in them.

I also don’t think gloves keep hands warm.  They just seem to isolate each little finger from any chance of gathering any warmth from any other little finger.

And I think mittens are only slightly better.

Blog Walk

When I am lucky enough to have time for a blog walk, I really enjoy seeing what other people have to say.

I have noticed my blog name, Cassie-b, on lots of peoples’ lists – people with whom I’ve never had any contact.

A while ago, I noticed that another blogger ask for a roll call, and at the risk of being embarrassed by nobody responding, if you happen to drop by, could you please stop in and say hello.
