THE REDBUD TREE

Last May we planted a redbud tree in our yard to replace the very old once beautiful flowering crab tree that has to be taken down this year (after the side that’s still alive) finishes blooming.  We watered it and fertilized it and watered it and watered it.

We gave the tree a name, ”Oscar’s tree” after our friend, Oscar the cat, down the street.

Well, it’s blooming!  It’s the little one to the left.

Thank you again, Oscar’s people for the tree.
We just can’t wait till next year!

PASSWORDS

I think I have about 15 passwords to remember at any given time.

And some of them change every 90 days.  And have to have 1 character, and 1 capital letter.  And some of them have to be 4 characters and some of them 8 or more!

With my mind so full of that “important password stuff,” no wonder I can’t always remember peoples names, or what I had for dinner last night.

Or where we’re supposed to be on Saturday night.

HOW ABOUT YOU – GOT ANY PASSWORDS?….

Very Nice Sunday

Yesterday we went to this Museum and became members.

Michener Museum.jpg

We had a really great day wandering around the museum.  And they’re having a War*ner Brothers exhibit, and yesterday, they had hours of Bugs Bunny cartoons.  I’m not wild about cartoons, but Don just loves them.  Along with our membership, we are able to go to dozens of other museums on this one membership.

It really was a great day.

Fast Food, Anyone?

It wasn’t true.  She’s been arrested.  It’s safe to eat here again.  Actually, it always was.

Lighters Banned From Airlines

Another item has been banned from airplanes, and anyone caught with one will have to give it up as they pass through security.

Lighters cannot be placed in checked luggage, either. They have been banned from being checked for 30 years.

But officials say that matches are still allowed, mostly because the government says they would be too hard to detect at checkpoints.

Another reason I’m glad I don’t smoke.

It was explained, “If you’re going through the security check point, we’ll detect it, and tell the passenger to either take it back to their car, or give it to a loved one that’s seeing them off. Or they can give it to us, and we’ll dispose of it properly. But once you turn over something to us, and you surrender it to us at the security check point, you won’t get it back.”

The Transportation Security Administration has banned lighters in fear that they could be used to light explosives on a plane.

April 17 National Cheeseball day

Don’t forget that Sunday is National Cheeseball day - a wonderful day to celebrate.

If you don’t have a recipe, maybe you’d like to try mine.  Or, if you don’t like food preparation, maybe you’d like to purchase one (not a bad idea).

If you don’t have a recipe of your own, maybe you’d like to try mine-listed in the extended entry.

1 tablespoon green pepper, chopped
2 cups (8 ounce) sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon pimento, chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice

A Fast-Foods Update

McDonald's
mcdonalds-1.gif

We lived in Ticonderoga, NY, a while back, and McD*onalds was the only fast food restaurant in that town.  Everyone was so thrilled when it opened, and all the teenagers in town wanted to work there.

Ray Kroc opened the Des Plaines restaurant in 1955. First day’s revenues-$366.12! No longer a functioning restaurant, the Des Plaines building is now a museum.

Anyone ever work there?  Or eat there?

Later Update
Montpelier, Vermont is the only U.S. state capital without a McDonalds.

Thanks Kazul

Beautiful Sunshiny Day

I think Spring has finally sprung here in Bucks County Pennsylvania.

We have lots of daffodils, and the promise of tulips in our front garden. daffodil.jpg
We have opened our bedroom windows, and it so nice to wake up and hear the birds chirping away.

And the fresh air in the house is such a treat. spring.jpg
I hope it’s just as nice where you live.
