Alan fixing breakfast.
My young friend, Alan was not quite 3 years old when his mom went into the kitchen after sleeping a little late on a Saturday morning.
There was Alan, with 2 eggs in his hands, heading for the stove!
I guess he was going to fix breakfast for his Mom and Dad.
I just love kids.

Bring on the coffee
Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?
If it sounds too good to be true, think again.
Coffee just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes.
And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.
I LOVE COFFEE!

The longest day - and I missed it!
It’s the longest day of the year.
This doesn’t mean our day has more than 24 hours in it - it just means that we just have more sunlight than any other day.
On the summer solstice we get between 15 and 20 hours of sunlight, depending on where you’re located in the world.
This occasion is also called Midsummer because it is almost in the middle of the growing season throughout most of Europe.
So if you’re in Santa Barbara California on the 24th,
you might want to go to the parade.
Happy Summer!

My favorite ½ dozen singers today
I don’t like music because it’s what everyone likes, or because it’s popular, or trendy or the thing to listen to.
I like music because I like the way it sounds to me. And today these are 6 of my favorite singers.
Anybody care to share some of their favorite singers with me?

Unpleasant shopper
As I was blogwalking a couple of days ago, I read a post that someone (so sorry, I can’t remember who) had a story to tell about an unpleasant grocery store experience. And it reminded me of one of our local characters.

We have an older, quite unpleasant man who shops in several of our local grocery stores. I don’t know what his problem is, but he keeps hitting the person ahead of him in the checkout line with his cart.
I’ve spoken to several people who have been victims. It seems like no one ever complains to the store personnel, so he just continues being rude.

How did you choose your blog name?
About my blog name, Cassie-B. When I was a little girl, my neighbor, Jimmy from across the street couldn’t pronounce my name.
He always called me Cassie-B.
Through the years, I’ve always wanted to use that name for something, and when Buzz was setting up my blog and asked me what name I wanted to use, it was instantly there.
Thanks, Jimmy
And thanks Buzz for setting up my blogsite three years ago.
oh- and as some of you know,
my first name is not Cassie

ZUCCHINI RESCUE
I posted this recipe back in August 2003, not too long after I started blogging.
When I made the soup again today, I remembered how good it is. It sounds a bit weird, but it is absolutely delicious. (that is, if you like zucchini, and if you like soup). And it is so easy to make.
So, I’m posting it again.
The recipe is in the extended entry of this post.
Cream of Zucchini Soup
4 cups chicken stock (2 cans and a little water will do)
4 medium zucchini sliced ( I used 2 fairly large, they looked like they could be divided into 4 mediums)
2 carrots, sliced
1 chopped onion (Vidalia if you have it)
1 package cream cheese (8 ounces)
salt & pepper
Cook zucchini, carrots and onion in broth about 20 or so minutes. Use a fair sized pot.
Puree in blender with cream cheese.
It thickens a little as it cools.

It’s Birthday Season Here
We have a fairly large family. And nine of the people in our family celebrate their birthday in the month of June.
We’ve had 4 birthdays so far this month, and a few more to go – and you can throw in Father’s day too. And three wedding showers and a new baby.
That’s a lot of celebrating!
And a lot of gifts!
