Pumpkin carving
Maybe this year I’ll try my hand at pumpkin carving.
Or better still, maybe I’ll watch Don try his hand at pumpkin carving.
Maybe I’ll just make a pumpkin pie. ![]()

Cool weather comfort food
As the autumn weather gets cooler, I always enjoy a bowl of hearty homemade soup.
This is one that’s pretty easy. And very delicious. The leftovers, if you have any, freeze well.
1 bag (1 lb.) dried beans – whatever kind you like best. The original recipe called for Mixed Dried Beans
1 1/2 pounds Italian sausage
1 (29 ounce) can diced tomatoes
2 (14 ounce) cans chicken broth
1 cup white wine (or water)
1 red bell pepper, 1 onion, 2 stalks celery, 2 large carrots, chopped
2 cups frozen green peas
Soak beans overnight Drain and rinse beans.
Place beans in crockpot with tomatoes, broth, white wine, and vegetables.
In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until done. Slice links into 1/2 inch pieces. Add meat to crockpot
Cover, and cook on low for 7 to 8 hours.
Maybe I should go shopping
for a nice new very warm winter coat!

Definitions -

These descriptions work in our family.
I’ve seen Don changing channels with the remote after has fallen asleep!

New Discovery!
A colorful new bird has been discovered in a previously unexplored Andean cloud forest in BOGOTA, Colombia -
The bright yellow and red-crowned Yariguies brush-finch is named after an Indian tribe that once lived where it was found.
Because of this discovery, their government has decided to set aside 500 acres of the pristine cloud forest where the bird lives to create a national park.
Excellent!

Autumn has arrived
Our weathermen said that our Autumn wouldn’t be as brilliant
this year as in previous years because of the very dry summer.
But it’s still beautiful.

Have a nice Friday!
Have a nice day.
Friday the 13th is only scary if you have paraskavedekatriaphobia, a specialized form of triskaidekaphobia, a phobia (fear) of the number thirteen.
I have plans to sit back, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the day.
How about you?

Speaking of bugs……
My friend, Cheryl, who’s husband was away for a month on a business trip, had a bug problem about a week before he returned home.
She went into her bathroom (the one attached to her bedroom) one night, and when she turned on the light, an enormous bug came flying at her.
She screamed, and shut the door, with the bug still in the bathroom. The door never got opened again until her brave husband came home and saved they day! He disposed of the bug and reclaimed the bathroom.
We lived in Charleston, South Carolina back then,
and they grow those Palmetto Bugs really big!
I found this description (in the extended entry of this post) about these Palmetto bugs during one of my internet travels
Palmetto Bug or Cucaracha (cockroach). They’ve got to be the ugliest, most despicable-looking creature alive, but I’m sure their mothers love them. Palmettos appear to be roughly the size of a Buick - up to two inches for the American cockroach or 5/8 of an inch for the German cockroach, they usually wait until you stumble into the bathroom in the middle of the night before flying kamikaze-like in your direction. Keep all food tightly sealed or locked in the refrigerator to keep their numbers down. Wear a pace-maker when you get up at night.
Does anyone else have as much trouble as I do deciding on the title of a post?
Somehow, it seems very important – to me if not to anyone else.
Well, I guess if that’s my toughest problem of the day, I must be doing OK.

What in the world is a Stink Bug?
This must be the time of year here in South Eastern Pennsylvania for Stink Bugs.
We’ve seen about a dozen of them in the house in the past week. I think they can come right through the screens.
By the name, I’m a little nervous about grabbing one of those little things
and finding out what the “stink” part of their name is like.
I hope our cat doesn’t catch one.
