August Calendar
I have a feeling that August here in Southeeatern PA is going to be very hot.
If you’re looking for an additional holiday or two, to forget the heat, maybe this calendar page will help.
I’m going to plan a big celebration for Left Hander’s day on the 13th.
Not only am I left-handed, but I know lots of folks who are left-handed too.
Enjoy!

All Typed Out?

Are you a blogger? if so, you’re in good company. Blog search engine Technorati pegged the number of active blogs at around 56 million this past October. By January 2007 that number had grown to 63.2 million, with 175,000 new blogs begun each day.
Sounds like a big number, but it turns out that the graveyard of the blogosphere is even bigger. Half of all new bloggers abandon ship within three months, Technorati estimates. And last December, research firm Gartner calculated the total number of dead, abandoned blogs at more than 200 million. Gartner went on to forecast that the total number of active blogs would peak at 100 million in 2007 before dropping back and leveling off at around 30 million.
I’ve been blogging way past the 3 month mark.
I’ve had a blogsite for more than 4 years.
How about you?

It’s a special day for Smokey Joe and Me
Today is a very important day in my life for at least a few reasons:
1.) It’s my birthday
2.) It’s Smokey Joe’s birthday (I don’t know exactly what day he was born, so I decided to share my birthday with him)
And it’s All or nothing day, Aunt and uncle day, and let’s not forget:
Black-Eyed Peas Jamboree in Athens, Texas
Now I’m just waiting for my birthday dinner and my birthday gift(s)

Company dinner
We invited friends to our house for dinner last night, and the weather was so nice that we ate our dinner outside on the deck.
We had a wonderful time catching up on “what’s happening”.
For an appetizer, Don made a delicious shrimp appetitzer So good!

I made a dip to go with a tray full of veggies for another appetizer, and it was delicious- I only make this one when these onions are available.
1 Vidalia onion - chopped fine
1 cup real mayonnaise
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
Mix all ingredients well and put into a small lightly buttered casserole dish.
Sprinkle with Paprika.
Bake for 25 minutes (or till slightly browned and bubbly) at 350 degrees.
I serve it hot from the onion, and it’s usually gone by the time it’s cool.
It’s delicious – and so easy.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And the dinner was good – Grilled salmon and all the trimmings.
I hope the weather’s nice where you are.

What an odd computer problem
Strange –
The man who sits in the office next to mine had a weird computer problem today. He was trying to move around in a spread sheet, but couldn’t.
Then he decided to look up a technical person’s name for a little help with his problem.
He went to our automated phone list. And when he typed in the name, It typed backwards! (htimS instead of Smith) I’m not sure I would have believed if I hadn’t seen him do it.
I guess he did something to really confuse that pc.
Anybody ever have that happen?
Or have any other strange computer problems?

Summer Salad
It seems like when we go to a picnic where everyone brings something, Broccoli Raisin Salad is often on the menu.
I decided to try my hand at this culinary delight, and couldn’t find a recipe that exactly suited my needs. So I improvised:
1 head of broccoli – broken into small pieces
1 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons vinegar
2 handfuls of raisins
1 red spanish onion, sliced thin cause that’s what all the recipes call for
And for good measure, I added some thinly sliced carrots (I like carrots)
Mix together and let sit at least 4 hours.
It was very good.
And even better on the second day!

Summer Weather
It’s really a hot week we have to look forward to here in Bucks County, PA.
We’re planning to spend a couple of evenings this week at our Swim Club. It’s usually cooler there, and then, there’s always the pool to cool off.
Keep Cool!

Evening
We’re home from the family picnic, and now it’s raining. Lucky for us that the rain didn’t interfere with the festivities.
The fireworks displays have been moved to this weekend because of the rain.
We took a fruit salad to the party, and it was delicious. I always use this bowl for fruit salads. It was my Mother’s and I just love it.
Actually, there was a lot of delicious food.
And we really enjoyed seeing everyone.
