Another busy weekend

We went to the Home show on Friday.  I managed to spend a few dollars there – actually more than a few. It was fun.

On Saturday we went to a birthday party for a darling little one year-old.  It was very nice – lots of people and lots of gifts.  And of course, lots of good food.
I made the birthday prince a knitted toy.

And Sunday was our annual family brunch.  We send out invitations with our Christmas gifts for a brunch to be held in March or April.
This year, we had 24 at the brunch, and it was at the Plumsteadville Inn in Plumsteadville, PA.
They had wonderful food there, and we were seated in a room that was just barely big enough for all of us.  Cozy.

We had a great time, and I hope the rest of the family and friends did too.

How was your weekend?

Colonial Dinner

Last night Don and I went to a Colonial Kitchen Dinner, which a local restaurant specials annually on Monday nights in February and March.

We listened to lute and flute music, performed by musicians in colonial costumes, and met an indentured servant who stopped by to talk to us and explain her lot in life and future plans, and Susan B. Anthony.  (I think they might have been actors)

We also watched 2 colonial women cooking in an open fireplace – they demonstrated the cooking practices from colonial days.

The food is authentic colonial fare.  And as always, was delicious.

All in all, it was an enjoyable evening.

Guess who came to lunch?

Don threw out some food scraps for the birds yesterday and these enormous turkey buzzards came for their share.

image

I’ve seen them nearby, but this is the first time these birds visited our yard.

Resume

I was laid off from my job of 17 years last November.

In the spirit of being helpful, the company that I worked for gave me 3 months of service
with a company who helps with resumes and interviewing skills, and all that stuff.

image

My resume has been updated, and they will make 25 copies for me which I will pick up this Friday.  It looks great.
Now I just have to decide if I want to file them, or distribute them.
Staying home is something I really enjoy.image

A great day -

image

I went here with a good friend this past week.

We went by train- easier than trying to park in the city.  And we saw so many beautiful displays.
Nothing like a day at the FL0WER SHOW as a reminder that spring is on the way.
And I usually get lots of inspiration for my own garden.  This year was no exception.

Anniversary Dinner

We went to our favorite restaurant on Sunday night for our anniversary dinner.

image

As always, the dinner was outstanding - Crab soup for 2, softshell crabs, and Pad Thai with shrimp.

Ming came out to greet us, and brought us each a glass of wine.  When we finished our dinner, he sent a bowl with three scoops of ice cream.
One flavor was green tea ice cream, and I don’t know what the other two flavors were, but it was a fantastic ending to a wonderful anniversary dinner.
