MY HANDS ARE SO COLD
All this cold weather makes me think about how uncomfortable I am when not properly bundled up.
My hands are always cold.
I have a hard time deciding on gloves or mittens for my cold weather outings.
I find that wearing gloves (can be very stylish) makes all my fingers cold,
while wearing mittens (not so stylish) help by keeping my fingers slightly warmer.
I’ve tried many kinds of gloves, looking for just the right pair to keep me warm, but so far, no luck.
Any suggestions?

Plane Crash
A plane crashed on the Hudson yesterday.
Everyone was safe. And that’s wonderful. The pilot is a hero.
Don was flying home from California (to Pennsylvania) yesterday. It made my heart stop for a moment when I heard of this accident.
I wasn’t paying close attention, and the news report really scared me till I heard where the accident happened.

First New Year’s Recipe
Don found this recipe in a magazine that I was getting ready to throw away, and just had to try it.
Roasted Root Vegetables
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
1 pound red skinned potatoes cut into bite size pieces
1 onion, quatered
8 ounces carrots cut in 1 inch rounds (I used 1 pound)
8 ounces parsnips or turnips, cut in bite size pieces
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
Combine oil and garlic in large roasting pan and place in the oven for 2-4 minutes or till the garlic sizzles - stir in thyme, salt and pepper.
Add the veggies. Stir around till all the veggies are coated.
cover and bake for 30 minutes.
Increase the temp to 450 degrees, and bake uncovered for about 30 minutes till veggies are lightly browned.
They were delicious.
