He saved his own life
A while ago, Don’s friend at work was telling him the story about his dog, a Jack Russell terrier, who was being walked in the park.
A large hawk came down and grabbed him as prey.
Fortunately, the dog was wearing a little jacket (it was cold) and the hawk dropped him because he didn’t have a good hold - the little dog was wriggling to get loose.
The hawk came back around and went after the little dog again, and the dog attacked and killed the hawk.
I’d say that was one lucky little dog.
By the way, Jack Russell terriers are now known as Parson Russell Terriers.
That is an amazing story. I have seen hawks circling over our area and have been worried something like this might happen to Moby.
What a smart dog !!
I had a Jack Russel for a little while. It had a problem though, every time it saw me it would pee right where it was standing. Those things are little balls of energy as well.
We had 3 bald eagles circling above our house - our kittens were outside and I was wondering if they were eyeing them. I think the kittens would scoot under the deck - but I was glad when the eagles took off.
That’s one smart and brave pup.
I saw a video on television last week of a guy setting his pet mouse out to run in the yard. A hawk swooped in and snatched it up. It was not as lucky as the dog!
That was a very lucky pup! I’m glad he’s ok!
Those terriers are the cutest little doggies.
He was sure a tough one!!
By the way, to pronounce Arkansans, the stress is on the KAN part.
I’m jealous that you lived in Charleston for 10 years. That city and Savannah are my dream cities. I love the architecture and history.
Jack Russells are tough little fighters. He’s a lucky dog
What an amazing story. I’m so glad he survived. We have Golden Eagles around here. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one, but I imagine they could be a danger to smaller pets. It’s a dangerous world out there.
Jack Russells are great little dogs, full of vim and energy. I must admit to not being surprised that the little guy actually killed the bird. They are tough and strong regardless of their size.

When we take our dog up north we have to be careful because a bald eagle often circles the area looking for prey. Once the eagle was gliding towards us while Doogie was off his leash. We ran over to make sure he wasn’t carried off. Don’t think our 15-year-old poodle could fend off a full grown bald eagle.
