I like wine

I read this in a leaflet left on my door by - I don’t know who.

I wonder if this is true.

It could keep that long - not all wines would be be good after so long.  My children tell me that they learnt in history that the French troops at the front were given alcohol but it was dangerously strong, it certainly wasn’t wine.  I wonder if it’s where the saying ‘dutch courage’ comes from?

Well, if they’re willing to share, I’d be willing to try some of that vintage wine!

If the people who dropped off that leaflet decide to drop off the wine instead, let me know - I’ll be there in a hurry!

I think it would be a gamble myself whether the wine would still be good or not, and at the price the dollar is fetching in Europe these days, a BIG gamble.  I heard the price of a pint of beer in a Parisian pub costs $16 American.

I posted some pictures from my trip including one you requested of the Whistlestop Cafe.  My sister-in-law saw your comment where you mentioned you like to photograph diners.  She’s a big fan of diners too.  We’ve been to a few, but I think I’m safe in saying there are more diners in Pennsylvania than in Michigan.

I was surprised to hear of the cost of beer in Paris.  I’ve just discussed it with Olivier(the expert!) and he reckons on $11 for that quantity of beer in La Rochelle.  While the converter is handy I spend $5 for a reasonable bottle of wine.

Shall I send some over?  wink

I would like to try it.  But for over $2,000 I will pass.

I’ve never heard about this.
You could check it out at snopes.com or truthorfiction.com to see if it’s true or not.
Those sites keep tabs on stories that are going around and tell if they are true or not.
It would be kind of fun to go digging for those buried bottles.
It would feel like an archeological dig!
One could pretend to be Indiana Jones!!
