What a surprise!
About a month ago, I went to the dentist for a root canal (my first). It wasn’t a bad experience, till it came to the bill. Those things are expensive!
Our insurance covered about half, and I had to pay the other half.
Evidently, the dentist misjudged the amount the insurance would pay, and it was in my favor! How often does that happen?
Yesterday, I received a check from the dentist for $69.80.
That’s the best visit I ever had from the tooth fairy.
I’ve never had a root canal.
I don’t wish to have one.
GETTING a check is always a good thing!!
I’ve never had a root canal and don’t know how much my dentist would charge. Probably a lot given his other charges. I’ll make a lot of concessions to getting old but I really don’t want to lose my teeth.
K-
My wife’s dentist wants her to get a bridge or something to fill in a gap among her back molors. Cost? Two to three thousand dollars.
She responded in declining the offer, “It’s not like I’m going on American Idol or anything.”
It’s funny you wrote this today. One of the jokes I had for my show today was about a recent study done on the tooth fairy and how kids are getting an average of 29 cents less per tooth from the tooth fairy than last year. The punch line was that parents were telling the kids the tooth fairy was on a tighter budget because of the cost of gas, but I guess now we know the real truth.
I just got my “you are 3 months late” reminder card from the dentist. :(
Root canals are a lot better than the pain if your nerve is exposed! I need one, and I keep putting it off and occasionally it flares up really bad!! The sound of the dental drill just gives me the chills.
If that’s the way it works, I should not be worried about trying out the delicious Bread Pudding with sauce-recipe you had down on your blog! A dentist actually paying for checking sugary teeth sounds lovely
P.S. Thanks for visiting my blog!
I have had several root canals over the the past years.. but never have I had such a visit from the Tooth Fairy.
I’ve had a root canal that wasn’t complete so now I’ve got 6 crowns across the front and STILL have a tooth that hates the cold and hot. Lucky you’ve got a good dentist!
Yay for you! About time it worked the other way around… them giving it back and all that stuff.
Hope you’re feeling hunky dory as I know the rainy weather can play heck with a fresh root canal. ((hugs))
Whoa, no kidding! How come stuff like that never happens to the rest of us?
Glad it wasn’t a horrible experience for you!
I had a horrible experience with a root canal when I was in my late teens. To this day that tooth is the bane of my existence.
So, on to other things ... the timing of this post. I just received a note from my dentist that the appointment for my cleaning that is due has been changed. I forgot that I was due for a cleaning. The new date & time fits so much better into my schedule.
And they say tooth fairies don’t exist! =)
I’m glad your root canal experience wasn’t too painful. I had one in my early twenties—I just remember getting a big headache afterwards. Thank goodness for painkillers!
Ouch to the root canal, and having to pay 1/2, but, the payback was good!
Wow! I think you have the dentist story of all dentist stories!!!!
Next entry: Spring!

I thought I had a good dentist story, but you win! Good for you!
