Philadelphia-ism (is that a word?)

I grew up in the Philadelphia area, and as a child, I often heard a waitress or sales person to call someone “hon”..
I hadn’t had anyone call me that for a long time, but yesterday we had breakfast at a diner, and the waitress called me “hon”.

It brought back pleasant memories of my childhood.
